Balancing out how fast your opponents get to play the game has always appealed to me, and I feel if you end up putting zero basic lands in your deck then thats absolutely something I should be able to punish you for
Typically those decks are playing less creatures to either abuse mass removal themselves or just to accommodate the extra walkers in their list and so a mass removal spell that can take out their main threats en masse is of great use in matchups where most other Wrath effects are complete garbage able to take out a token or two, parhaps a Wall of Omens, at best
You wont be relying on Elesh Norn to win the game but more of an extension to your game plan
